The foundation consists of the executive board and the board of trustees.
Executive board
The executive board is generally made up of family members of the resistance circle. These are currently Moritz von Jagow, Thomas Lindenmeyer, Elisabeth Ruge and General Hans Speidel (retd). The chairman of the executive board is Robert von Steinau-Steinrück.
The Berlin bureau is directed by Tanja Czibulinski. The German Resistance Memorial Center carries out business activities on behalf of the Memorial Foundation for July 20, 1944.

Board of trustees
The board of trustees is made up of a maximum of 15 members, consisting of family members of the resistance circle, members of victims’ organizations, outstanding members of society, representatives of religious communities, and a representative of the German federal government.
The current members of the board of trustees are: Sophie Freifrau von Bechtolsheim, General Josef Blotz, Christof Bosch, Superintendent Carsten Bolz, Berthold Goerdeler, Salomon Korn,Father Klaus Mertes SJ, Father Karl Meyer OP, Hans-Manfred Rahtgens, Michael Roik, Reinhard Rürup, Boris Ruge, Annette von Schlabrendorff, Joachim Scholtyseck, Franz Graf von Schwerin von Schwanenfeld and Agnieszka von Zanthier. The chairman is Axel Smend. The honorary chairman is Rüdiger von Voss. The previous chairmen of the board of trustees were: Emil Henk, Fritz Sänger, Eberhard Bethge, and Ludwig Freiherr von Hammerstein.
